This indicator shows the percentage of adults who used a quick service restaurant 6 times or more in the past 30 days. 

Why is this important?

Commonly known as fast food restaurant, quick service restaurant has become increasingly integral to the American diet and the growing presence of fast food restaurant reflects changes in consumer demand and producer behavior that affects the health and nutrition of individuals over time. Study shows that frequent eating at a fast food or quick service restaurant was associated with perceived poor health status and higher body mass index.
 
Obesity prevalence was linked to living in states or counties with higher density of fast food restaurants; in census units with more fast food restaurants or convenience stores and in areas with higher concentrations of local restaurants.
