Why is this important?

Vaccines are a vital tool in public health's toolbox. When most people in a community are vaccinated, a diseases ability to spread is hindered. Thus, people's beliefs about vaccines is important to community health.
 
Vaccine stigma and hesitancy disrupts progress in protecting a community against infectious diseases. Most people have a positive view on vaccine safety, however there have been surges of vaccine opposition throughout the 21st century.  This opposition has led to measles outbreaks in countries where measles was previously considered eliminated.
