MMR Vaccination Rate: Kindergarten Students

This indicator shows the total percentage of kindergarten students that are fully immunized with 2+ MMR vaccines.

Why is this important?

The MMR vaccine is crucial for children as it protects against measles, mumps, and rubella, all of which can lead to severe complications. It reduces the incidence of these diseases, supports herd immunity, and prevents outbreaks, ensuring community health and safeguarding those who cannot be vaccinated. The percentage of kindergarten students who have completed the recommended vaccinations shows the rate of children who will be immune to life-threatening diseases without being exposed. When rates in the community drop below a certain level, previously well-controlled diseases, such as measles, can return to cause serious illness in certain populations.
